Privacy policy

BloodTrail works entirely on your phone. It has no accounts, ads or analytics. The app never uploads your camera view, location or trails to us or anyone else, and we don't sell or share your information.
This policy explains what the BloodTrail Android app uses on your phone, why, and what happens to it. BloodTrail is made by Midwest Solutions LLC ("we").
What the app uses and why
Camera and flashlight
The live camera view is processed on your phone to highlight blood-colored spots on the ground and, when Buzz is on, to vibrate when blood comes into view. The flashlight lights the ground. The app doesn't take photos or record video, and nothing from the camera is saved or sent anywhere.
Precise location
When you start a trail, the app records your path and the spots you mark (hit site, blood, deer found) so it can show them on the trail map and give you distance and direction back to them. Recording keeps going with the screen off while a trail is active, and a "Recording blood trail" notification is shown the whole time. It stops when you press Deer found or Stop, or when you swipe the app away.
Location comes from your phone's location service (Google Play services on most Android phones). How Google handles location on your device is covered by Google's privacy policy and your phone's location settings. BloodTrail itself only keeps your trail on your phone.
Compass and motion sensors
Used to show which way you're facing. Readings are used live and not stored.
Notifications and vibration
Notifications are only used for the "Recording blood trail" notice. Vibration is used for the blood alert and button feedback.
What is stored, and where
Your current and previous trails (GPS points, marked spots, times and GPS accuracy) and your app settings are stored in the app's private storage on your phone. We never receive a copy.
To delete everything, uninstall BloodTrail or go to Settings, Apps, BloodTrail, Storage and clear the app's data. Android's own device backup may include app data if you've turned backup on for your phone.
When information leaves your phone
Only when you choose to send it:
- Share creates a KML or GPX file of your trail and hands it to the app you pick (for example email, Google Earth or onX). That app's privacy policy applies to what it does with the file.
- Open in Google Maps passes the coordinates of the spot you chose to Google Maps. Google's privacy policy applies there.
Children
BloodTrail is made for adult hunters and isn't directed to children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling information differently, we'll update this page and the date at the top before that version is released.
